Dear People of God
Palm Sunday: This Sunday we hold our Palm Sunday services at the usual times of 7.30 and 9.15. At the 9.15 service there will be a procession in the neighbourhood.
At this service our youth members will highlight the continuing scourge of Gender Based Violence (GBV). As one pandemic is showing signs of slowing down another (GBV) seems to continue surging despite many efforts to confront it. Let us continue to do whatever we can to make a positive difference.
Training for Parish Councillors 9 April:
Tomorrow our newly elected parish councillors gather at St Johns and St Raphaels, Sydenham, together with councillors from the 11 other parishes in our archdeaconry for a training morning. Bishop Nkosinathi will speak about the State of the Diocese and others will speak about the Canons, property and good governance.

New Covid-19 Regulations: As you know the State of National Disaster came to an end this week. We remain mindful that the pandemic is not at an end and so we need to proceed with caution.
The Anglican Church of Southern Africa has produced new guidelines. They emphasise that all health protocols must be observed including the compulsory wearing of masks indoors. The following relate to communion. “As the prohibition on sharing of substances has been done away with, we may with care and mindfulness, re-introduce the reception of communion with the common cup starting on Palm Sunday.
Communion in two kinds can be made available for those who wish to share in the common cup. As has always been the case, persons who wish may continue to choose to receive communion in one kind only.”
Intinction (dipping the host into the wine) or separate cups are not allowed. Revision of the Prayer Book: The Provincial Liturgy Committee recently held an on-line consultation with those who are working on the revision of An Anglican Prayer Book 1989. The ambitious plan is to have it completed by 2025. In preparation for the final product parishes will be invited to “test out” the texts to see their suitability for use.
Easter Offering: The church wardens have been making an appeal for the Easter Offering for the rector. This gift may be given through envelopes provided at church services or given into the office or the church bank account (details below) with the reference “Easter Offering.”
